Description: In this role, you will rotate across various clinical areas, gaining diverse experience and contributing to the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services. Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for an allocated patient caseload in a relevant clinical setting. Provide support and clinical supervision to junior staff, including rotational Band 5 occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and OT students on clinical placements. Be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in service developments, audits, and service reviews, as well as work collaboratively with other health and social care professionals to facilitate timely and safe discharges and prevent hospital admissions. Take an active part in continuous professional development and performance development reviews. Participate in the seven-day working rota. Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence. Skills: Evidence of understanding the needs of service users and their carers, and the ability to explain the role of the OT to them. Sufficient post-graduate OT practice, with a minimum of six months in a relevant clinical setting. Experience in using standardized and structured assessments and implementing specialized OT treatment approaches. Experience in assessing for specialist adaptive equipment and minor adaptations, and evaluating their effectiveness and safety. Ability to clearly articulate the role of the Occupational Therapy Service to a wide and diverse range of people. Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and identifying ways to facilitate effective team working. Understanding of issues involved in working in a diverse community and practical ways to ensure OT practice is culturally appropriate and accessible. Good communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly (both verbal and written) and overcome barriers to communication.
