What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and execute complex data transfers to industry partners, e.g. Bill of Materials, 3D CAD Model, Change Packages (working with document control; PLM Capability Centre; design zone integration; change, configuration, detail design; and chief engineer technical authorities).
- Support development of formal business processes for data transfer, readiness, and quality for data types as required by River Class Destroyer contract.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working with international customer shipyard from both a stakeholder and process point-of-view, including weekly drumbeat, for transfer activities and data quality issue resolution.
- Establish data readiness approach for the programme (working with Data Quality and Governance) and take responsibility for data quality issue resolution within the Delivery organisation.
- Establish and maintain data ‘BI’ reporting capability (e.g. Tableau) to measure performance against transfer schedule, right-first-time, and issue detection and burn down (inc. DQIs).
- Liaising with Digital Data and Cyber (DDC) function, lead the creation of digital technology requirements for data transfer capability (including supporting development of RCD Automated Gateway between BAE and ISI) and engage closely with RCD programme and Naval Ships digital demand governance processes and change boards.
- Perform effective, pro-active line management of data transfer and readiness resources to support development of individuals and build a multi-skilled adaptable team.
Essential Your skills and experiences:
- Practitioner level knowledge of data management principles and processes.
- Practitioner level knowledge of engineering lifecycle and governance of complex products, e.g. detail design transition into build.
- Working knowledge of engineering processes, e.g. design assurance, bill of materials, data quality and governance, design reviews, design area/zonal integration.
- Experience leading or managing a team within fast paced working level schedules.
Desirable
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge of company-to-company data transfer processes.
- Strong experience of Customer management and a collaborative working environment.
- Knowledge of warship or large complex product (‘System of Systems’) design processes and inter-relationships and design delivery would be advantageous.
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Some disciplines may require a Masters level education.
- Chartered Engineer, or other relevant, equivalent professional registration.
- Member of appropriate professional institution, ideally working towards Fellow.

The River Class Destroyer (RCD) Data Delivery Team
The River Class Destroyer (RCD) Data Delivery team fulfils a unique critical role at the interface between BAE and our Canadian international customers. Liaising with our Customer and internal stakeholders, this role is directly responsible for ensuring product data is at the required readiness and standard to be transferred using a controlled, governed process across the Atlantic. The role will lead and build a capable, multi-skilled, dynamic team (~5 members) to deliver this high impact scope-of-work enabling key design reviews and downstream shipyard schedules.
