Deputy Manager needed for an EBD Children's Home located in Nottingham. Perfect opportunity for someone already working as a Deputy or for an experienced Senior.
The company also offers a Step Up to Management Program for those who wish to progress on to Registered Manager further down the line.
Role
You will work alongside the Home Manager to support and supervise a team of Residential and Senior Residential Support Workers to provide quality care to looked-after children. You will be able to lead, motivate and enhance the skills of your team and be able to model professionalism and leadership skills. The young people display complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and associated challenging behaviours, and need guidance to develop their independence skills and ability to integrate into society. You will be confident and able to step in to the manager’s shoes in their absence.
The Deputy Manager role will include:
- Taking a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.
- Coordinating and attending meetings with schools, social workers, and the local authority.
- Helping oversee a team of support workers, providing guidance and training in various therapeutic techniques and protocols.
- Writing reports for LAC, Placement reviews and Care plans.
- Raising any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.
- Dealing with challenging behaviour (verbally abusive, possibly threatening behaviour).
- Positive role modelling at all times and maintaining a consistent approach.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Administer and document medication.
- Conduct and create risk assessments to safeguard children and young people.
- Build rapport with vulnerable children ages 7 to 17 years old and their families on supervised contact.
- Positive behaviour support and physical intervention.
- Conducting Keywork sessions.
- Liaising between social workers, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Deputy Manager Criteria
- Diploma/ NVQ Level 3 in children and young people (or equivalent qualification) or above.
- Senior experience in leading and developing others.
- Excellent knowledge of the requirements of the role and the ability to lead others.
