We are looking for an Electricity Networks Director who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”. You will manage GTC’s electricity business and the relationship between GTC and the upstream Distribution Network Operators, ensuring compliance and an excellent customer experience.

As the Electricity Networks Director your key responsibilities are:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Electricity Networks business, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of all networks.
  • Develop, review and drive the business strategy, developing innovative solutions and ensuring challenges and opportunities are met.
  • Create and maintain GTC’s Electricity Networks Technical Standards and act as a Design Authority and Authorising Engineer to ensure standards are met.
  • Ensure a focus on both compliance and health, safety and environmental matters relation to the Electricity Distribution Systems, whilst providing a first-class customer experience.
  • Manage relationships with Independent Connection Providers, host Distribution Network Operators and HSE to ensure collaboration and excellent customer service.
  • Manage relationships with manufacturers, Trade Associations, Industry bodies and Ofgem for Competition in Connections.
  • Authorising Electricity Networks Asset and Operational business processes.
  • Act as the officer in charge during an Electricity emergency.
  • Lead and develop the team, providing support, guidance and performance feedback to drive individual and team success, ensuring succession of key roles is considered.

About You:

  • Hold a suitable recognised engineering qualification and be working towards Chartered Engineer status with the IET.
  • Extensive experience at a senior manager level in electrical assets business, proficient in negotiation and industry networking.
  • Be technically competent having had significant experience in similar work up to 132kV.
  • Demonstrable leadership in delivering great outcomes for customers.
  • Strong communicator and the ability to build lasting relationships, both internal and external.
  • Innovative and able to use initiative and curiosity for continuous improvement.
