Reporting into the Director of Business Assurance & Risk, the appointed individual will deliver a portfolio of risk and assurance activities designed to protect and enhance the business. This role goes beyond traditional Internal Audit by delivering an assurance offer that drives value and supports implementation of NCG's strategy. The appointed individual will also contribute to maintaining high standards of data protection across the business.
This is an exciting, varied and hands-on role where the successful individual will pay a key part in supporting our risk, assurance, and data protection activities. Key duties include:
- Carrying out high quality advisory reviews to support management in discrete areas that may be less established.
- Working collaboratively and effectively with our outsourced internal audit/assurance partners.
- Line managing and mentoring more junior staff.
- Establishing positive relationships with stakeholders to recognise the value of assurance.
- Proactively seeking ways to modernise the assurance offer and challenge existing methods to drive continuous improvement.
- Overseeing progress against the ICO's Accountability Framework and working with wider stakeholders to strengthen compliance with data protection legislation.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of leading internal audits across a complex organisation; however, external audit experience will also be considered. Previous management experience would be preferred although is not essential. It's important that applicants understand that as well as leading the current team they will also be expected to be hands on and get involved in the delivery of activities, being passionate about the need for high quality assurance work. Please note individuals without data protection experience will be considered.
This role is based in Newcastle (Rye Hill House) and offers hybrid working arrangements.
