art-K Farnham is an art club for children aged 6 to 18 and adults based in Farnham. Using a wide range of mediums and techniques, the club aims to teach children diverse artistic styles as well as 3D projects. We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and friendly Workshop Leader to join art-K on a fixed-term contract from 10/07/2025 to 06/09/2025 during the summer holidays. The role involves leading and assisting in workshops and leading parties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in a fun, club environment with high teacher-student ratios where children are enthusiastic about art.
  • Run workshops and parties or assist in doing so if the branch manager or part-time teacher is present.

Workshop Leading/Assisting

  • As a Workshop Leader, you will ensure the success of each session, including pre-workshop setup and cleanup. Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing materials, discussing aims with assistants, sharpening pencils, washing brushes, cutting templates, and other studio and admin tasks.
  • Teaching the class by discussing techniques, demoing when required, engaging students, and ensuring learning aims are met.
  • Maintaining safety, safeguarding policies, and creating a nurturing environment.
  • Studio upkeep involves cleaning tables, hoovering/mopping floors, and maintaining hygiene standards.

Party Leading/Assisting

  • As a Party Leader, you will ensure the success of each 2-hour session, including pre-party communication, setup, and cleanup. Responsibilities include:
  • Participating in face-to-face training.
  • Coordinating with parents, creating ambiance, setting up music, preparing projects, and cleaning after the event.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a second-year student in an art-related university course.
  • Skills in various art mediums.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Reside within 30 minutes of the branch.

Schedule & Compensation

  • 40 hours/week, 8.5 hours/day including a 30-minute unpaid break.
  • Hourly rate: Β£13.92. For scheduled parties, the rate is Β£20/hour for leaders and Β£17.40/hour for assistants.
