The Lead Data Specialist is part of the wider Pensions Data Service Delivery (DSD) Team. The DSD Team is a revenue generating team within the pension administration business, responsible for data analysis, reporting and cleansing, delivering specific data improvement activities that align to clients’ strategic goals. Tasks can include data projects supporting Pensions Dashboard, buy-in, and buy out exercises, automation programmes, GMP rectification and GMP equalisation.
The Role
- Own and deliver complex data projects and tasks accurately, to deadline, and within scope and budget with early identification and highlighting of out-of-scope / out of budget work and other constraints.
- Communicate details of progress throughout the projects to DSDT leads calling out challenges and owning and implementing solutions to the challenges in a timely manner.
- Support the production of technical data reports for input into client documents at proposal and project closure stage with understanding of and reference to the client data project goals.
- Attend internal and external meetings for data project scope discussions, data project remit agreement and to present data reports and data analysis findings.
- Deliver pricing of new data projects and tasks to ensure work is priced at a commercial level and in an appropriate timescale for that task.
- Be a point of reference for DSDT on technical matters, non-standard queries, and queries requiring a higher level of expertise supporting the team by sharing knowledge and skills.
- Ensure tracking management information data is kept up to date and accurate in respect of allocated workload and all chargeable work is captured correctly on timesheets for billing purposes.
- Provide absence cover for the Team Managers.

The Requirements
- Excellent technical knowledge of UK based occupational pensions with proven ability to deliver high quality data projects within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills utilised within a pensions data project environment with experience of the delivery and management of data project tasks and projects.
- Proven ability to identify and efficiently resolve challenges, identifying solutions to ensure allocated data tasks and projects are delivered within required quality, timescales and agreed remit.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to organise and prioritise own workload with experience of working on several projects simultaneously.
- Evidenced ability to work effectively as part of a team supporting an inclusive working environment championing diversity within the team.
- Excellent communication and advanced numerical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
