An opportunity to be a key player at a boutique agency, helping to sell clients internationally. We are looking for a proactive and highly organized individual with a minimum 3–6-month experience of working in rights. Based at our office in West London, for 3-5 days a week.
The Lorella Belli Literary Agency is a dynamic and successful agency representing bestselling, award-winning and debut authors of fiction and general non-fiction, and publishing clients worldwide since 2002.
We seek a self-motivated, flexible and hardworking individual capable of moving up at the agency. A passionate reader who enjoys reading broadly, particularly commercial fiction. This is a busy position, so being a highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail, good at multi-tasking and working under time pressure is a must.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required, along with some knowledge of contemporary publishing and media trends. A trustworthy individual, appreciative of the confidential nature of agency work on behalf of our clients.
Responsibilities will include:
- General administrative support: diary management; phone enquiries; updating and managing submission database and systems; ad hoc research projects; creating and updating presentation materials; agency social media; dealing with day-to-day queries.
- Rights: liaising with clients, publishers, co-agents and scouts; preparing schedules and right lists for book fairs and other publishing events when applicable.
- Contracts & Accounts: checking and processing contracts, tax forms, royalty statements; invoicing; tracking book delivery & publication dates, and approvals.
Experience/skills required:
- A minimum of 3-6 months working in rights (at a literary or scouting agency, or a publishing house).
- Fluency in English and excellent writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365; knowledge of rights software preferable (but training will be provided).
Location: This position is based at our office in West London (NOT remote).
Salary: Depending on experience, in line with industry standard for similar roles. Pro-rated if less than 5 days a week.
