A prestigious, publicly listed hospitality group operating across the Caribbean and Central America is seeking a highly experienced Health & Safety Director to lead and oversee all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and initiatives. This executive role requires a strategic leader to ensure compliance with global and regional safety standards, mitigate risks, and drive a culture of health and safety excellence across all properties. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in implementing best practices to protect guests, employees, and assets while maintaining the highest standards of safety within the luxury hospitality sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee corporate health and safety policies and procedures across all properties.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations, identifying areas for improvement.
- Drive safety training and awareness programs for employees at all levels to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Oversee emergency preparedness, crisis management plans, and disaster response strategies.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate health and safety priorities into business operations.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and manage safety compliance audits, liaising with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure that all properties maintain certifications and accreditations related to occupational health and safety.
- Provide leadership on sustainability initiatives related to workplace safety, environmental health, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in health and safety management within the hospitality, tourism, or luxury resort industry.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, HACCP, and other relevant HSE standards.
- Strong background in emergency response planning, crisis management, and workplace risk assessments.
- Experience managing multi-location safety programs in a multinational environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to analyze data and implement data-driven safety initiatives.
- Proficiency in safety management systems, compliance software, and digital reporting tools.
