About the Role
This is an exciting and challenging role where you will be responsible for a wide range of activities. The Payroll Manager is responsible for the management, planning, and execution of payroll processes and systems to ensure payroll processing occurs in an accurate and timely manner. The Payroll Manager is additionally responsible for the development and coordination of business-wide processes and procedures for payroll management. You will be leading a team of Payroll Advisors who are processing high-volume payrolls from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Set objectives, prioritize workload for the team, and develop and recommend changes in policies, procedures, and methods to ensure proper control, improvement, and efficiency of the payroll function.
- Recruit and develop a high-performing payroll support team, overseeing workload and performance.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions.
- Manage payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
- Communicate with pension providers, HMRC, and other statutory bodies; manage End of Year statutory returns.
- Stay up-to-date with HMRC Payroll legislation.
- Lead projects related to the development of the integrated payroll-HR database, identifying and implementing system improvements.
- Prepare and verify payroll data to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Maintain excellent Excel skills and knowledge.
- Provide leadership and guidance for the Payroll Team.
- Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach; a hands-on attitude is needed.
Requirements:
- Payroll management experience, including end-to-end payroll processes.
- Experience with ADP is desirable.
- Ability to perform manual payroll calculations.
- Up-to-date knowledge of HMRC Payroll legislation.
- Adaptability to business changes and updates.
- Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive experience in a payroll function.
- Highly numerate and flexible.
