Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales is a dynamic and patient-focused organisation. The Health Board is responsible for the direct management of a number of GP Practices and is developing these practices to be gold standard exemplars, creating services that are better able to meet the needs of the local population, easier to access and navigate, and are a rewarding and satisfying place to work.

The Health Board is looking for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) who believe in a vision for high-quality clinical care and compassion within Primary Care, and who want to actively engage in delivering this in GP Practice sites across Wrexham and Flintshire. We have extended GP practice teams consisting of Clinical Lead GPs, Salaried GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Practice Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and other Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

We are looking for ANPs with experience in Primary Care and dealing with Chronic Disease Management. Applicants will hold an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Both full-time (37.5 hrs per week) and part-time positions will be considered. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Requirement to fulfil the 4 pillars of advanced clinical practice: Clinical leadership, Expert clinical practice, Research and Audit activity, Education.
  • The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within Primary Care, including (but not limited to):
  • Working as an autonomous, advanced practitioner, with an extended scope of practice to work with the team to deliver care; providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients.
  • Using evidence-based principles/current best practice and advanced specialist skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Keeping comprehensive, accurate records that support the clinical reasoning process in the assessment and treatment of all patients, which meet departmental, Health Board and Professional standards.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting other team members by sharing clinical knowledge and experience; and developing clinical services.
  • Ensuring all clinical practice is based on current research/evidence, developing and undertaking audit and research as appropriate.
  • Demonstrating through day-to-day action a contemporary approach to Primary Care which is patient-centred, prudent and team-enabling.

Previous knowledge of working within a primary care setting is desirable for this position.
