We are Dowty Propellers (a GE Aerospace company) and we are hiring. At a time of continued and successful growth, our Supply Chain team are interested in hearing from skilled and motivated buyers to join our dynamic team, onsite at our state-of-the-art propeller manufacturing site in Brockworth, just outside Gloucester. This is a full time, permanent role with hybrid working which includes three days onsite per week, with two days remote working.
As a buyer you will have responsibility for negotiating with dedicated providers according to specific policies. You will achieve the best contractual conditions while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction. You will have ownership over the quality of your own work and the work of others on the team. You will be focused on the execution of standard enabling activities/provision of advice subject to policy and work routines within an enabling discipline. There may be some latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete tasks/duties based on changing situations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels.
- Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers.
- Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement.
- Manage claims.
- Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities.
- Broaden knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures in own discipline to execute functional policy/strategy; still developing functional knowledge and skills.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
- Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Resolve issues in situations that require good knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
- Consult more senior team members for issues outside of defined policy/parameters.
- A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills.
- For customer-facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between customer and GE.
- Ability to explain and convey technical information to others.
Required Qualifications
This role requires experience gained within sourcing and commodity management. Experience gained with engineering manufacturing is essential. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent workplace experience.
