We are looking to hire a Manager in our Protection Pricing team. This individual will be responsible for supporting our UK and Irish clients through tender activity, ongoing technical/pricing support and supporting innovative solutions to improve business. The successful candidate will be based in our London office, Tower Bridge House, St Katharine's Way.
The Role
As a proactive and technical actuary, you will be working with a team to deliver protection quotes for new business and reviews of existing treaties. Your expertise in life insurance, pricing and experience analysis will enable you to work alongside our Client Solutions team to deliver market leading insights and propositions to our clients. Your role will focus on our clients in the UK and Ireland, with increasing opportunities within our global Pricing framework. Working together with the wider team you will deliver high quality pricing analysis on quote opportunities and will lead the opportunity through the internal governance process gaining significant visibility with the Global Protection Leadership Team, Chief Pricing Officer and MD of Europe & NA Protection. Being a creative problem solver, you will support the development of PLRe pricing capabilities by utilising novel data sources, understanding latest pricing and analytical techniques and continuously improving internal approaches and processes.
Key responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of new business quotations to life offices for life and health products, managing a team of analysts to meet our client’s needs.
- Analysing experience data and assessing trends in order to derive the technical pricing basis for prospective new business.
- Communicating results and approaches to stakeholders across the business.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of our clients and the wider Protection industry.
- Responsible for ensuring market developments are considered and where appropriate reflected in the pricing of protection business as well as in the provision of technical support, risk assessment and pricing expertise to clients and colleagues.
- Support the Client Solutions team in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients delivering solutions that meet their needs.
- Supporting internal strategic projects including but not limited to the assessment of novel data sources to enhance our understanding, identification of potential new rating factors, improvement of pricing processes etc.
- Support and develop people across the Protection Pricing team and wider business more generally, aiding in the professional and technical development of colleagues and contributing to a positive and collective team mentality.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:
- Have strong and relevant technical experience in life (re)insurance, life consultancy or another statistical pricing role.
- Be a qualified actuary with relevant post qualified experience.
- Have a good understanding of the UK life insurance market and preferably the protection market.
- Be highly analytical and willing to tackle new problems, ideally with strong experience analysis background, this could be attained in an alternative market for example General insurance.
