Approved Mental Health Professional Emergency Duty Team Qualified Social Worker Location: Greater Manchester Pay rate: £40 per hour We are seeking experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join the dedicated Approved Mental Health Professional – Emergency Duty Team in the North West. As part of this team, you will operate in a fast-paced, busy, and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will include coordinating assessments, demonstrating principles of the Mental Health Act (such as the least restrictive and participation principles), and ensuring humane and dignified conveyance of individuals to hospital when necessary. You will provide the Council’s statutory emergency response outside of office hours, including weekends and bank holidays, handling complex situations involving adults needing mental health assessments, safeguarding, and social care emergency interventions. The role involves delivering high-quality social care, managing safeguarding risks within a multi-agency environment, and working holistically and person-centered to keep clients and families central to the process. The AMHP has authority to apply for detention under the Mental Health Act and to approve Community Treatment Orders and Guardianship requests. Trained Best Interest Assessors (BIAs) can also recommend deprivation of liberty under the Mental Capacity Act.
