Are you a confident and experienced teacher with a passion for supporting children with communication and language needs? We are looking for a Communication, Language and Interaction (CLI) Teacher to join a specialist SEND unit within a welcoming primary school for the full academic year, starting in September.

This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

About the Role:

  • Teach a small group of pupils with a range of communication and interaction difficulties, including autism and developmental language disorders.
  • Planning and delivering highly tailored lessons that support both academic and personal development.
  • Supporting pupils’ communication, language, and interaction skills through evidence-based strategies.
  • Collaborating with speech and language therapists, SEND staff, and other professionals.
  • Creating a structured, inclusive and nurturing environment.
  • Using differentiated and flexible teaching approaches to meet individual needs.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) – Essential.
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with communication and language difficulties, particularly autism and/or DLD.
  • Confident in behaviour management and building strong, trusting relationships.
  • Excellent understanding of inclusive and adaptive teaching practices.
  • Please note: This role is not open to ECTs.

Desirable:

  • A SEND specialism qualification (e.g. PGCert in Autism, NASENCO, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a specialist provision, SEND unit or similar setting.
