Job Summary
We are seeking Band 6 Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses to join us within our Secure Inpatients Wards at Langdon Hospital. 2 x substantive 37.5 hour per week posts available and 1 x 37.5 hour per week fixed term (12 months) post available.
As a Clinical Team Leader you will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, ensure the provision of high quality individualised person‑centred standards of care, deputise for the Ward Manager and support the safe and effective running of the ward, supervise and develop staff, and act as the lead nurse in assessment, implementation of care through to discharge. You will support patients in achieving planned outcomes, adopt a flexible approach to duty hours, and work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Main Duties
- Committed to ongoing service and clinical development inclusive of service user/carer involvement.
- Providing clinical leadership to the nursing team and ensuring high quality individualised person‑centred standards of care are delivered to all patients.
- Deputising for the Ward Manager and supporting them to ensure the safe and effective running of the ward.
- Ensuring effective supervision and development of staff.
- Acting as a key member of the team, supporting each patient in achieving planned outcomes.
- Acting as lead nurse in assessment, implementation of care through to point of discharge.
- Taking charge of clinical area.
- Adopting a flexible approach to hours of duty to meet the needs of the service over a 24 hour period.
- Working according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
- A professional Mental Health Nursing qualification / NMC Registration.
Desirable
- Teaching Qualification.
Experience
- Substantial post registration experience.
- Experience as a Band 5 in an acute inpatient setting.
- Experience working within an MDT.
- Clinical supervision and mentoring experience.
- Experience of managing staff.
- Mentoring students in line with professional requirements.
Knowledge & Skills (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to provide and receive complex sensitive information relating to staff, service users, families and carers.
- Able to problem solve and assist others in this process.
- Effectively manage admissions/discharges.
- Ability to assess and manage risk effectively.
- Lead and supervise staff to provide a high quality, effective service.
- Good liaison skills and ability to manage difficult and complex situations.
- Effectively manage own time and that of the team.
- Ability to work flexibly.
- Able to undertake nursing procedures e.g. manual handling, physical restraint.
