Please note this position is temporary. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours. Work pattern - 21 Hours - Monday to Wednesday shifts 8-4pm, 9-5pm, 10-6pm.

This is a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Early Years Worker to join the team in Cleddens Early Years Centres, within East Dunbartonshire Council. We have developed our Early Years and Childcare Services to meet parents and families needs in line with the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act. We offer children a flexible and exciting opportunity for learning in a nurturing environment that embraces both the indoors and outdoors.

You will be required to support and promote the Ethos, Vision and Values of our Centre. You will demonstrate a positive approach in supporting the Head of Centre, Depute Head of Centre and the whole team in delivering a high quality Early Years services for children and families. You will be working within the context of local and National Curriculum Guidance, Health and Social Care Standards and the new Quality Standard.

You will work with the SMT to support the Early Years Team in developing a range of appropriate experiences and learning opportunities suitable for children's age and stage of development within an extended day/extended year centre. You will support the creation of a safe, caring, stimulating and inclusive environment for parents and families.

You will be enthusiastic and articulate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality. You must possess a relevant childcare qualification as defined in the role profile.

East Dunbartonshire Council is committed to ensuring the safety of vulnerable people and our recruitment process is designed to support this. The preferred candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria. Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate's first salary payment. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee's wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee's final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
