About the team:

Global Transaction & Payment Services (GTPS) is the Business Unit designed for domestic and international companies and institutions seeking support with commercial transactions (bank, commercial and corporate transactions) and payments. GTPS includes Payments & Cash Management (PCM), Cash Clearing services (BAN), Trade Finance services (TRA), Factoring (SGF) and Foreign Exchange services (FX) associated to these activities. GTPS/TRA develops, promotes and processes international Trade products and transactions. The offer concerns the securing and financing of international flows such as payment secured internationally, international guarantees, management and financing of export receivables. GTPS/TRA serves BDDF and IRBA networks and acts as the business line for international Trade products for our Global Banking and Advisory clients. Within GLBA's network, GTPS/TRA is present in 16 locations through dedicated desks.

Summary of Key Purposes of the Role:

GTPS/TRA London desk is looking for a Senior Trade Banker, an experienced and highly motivated person who will be responsible for the origination and execution of Trade Finance transactions and the development of Trade Finance solutions for SG UK client base.

  • Defines and implements a yearly client strategic plan with the coverage team (GLBA).
  • Initiates and develops Trade business with corporate clients (UK and multinational corporates located in the UK).
  • Originates Trade Finance solutions for strategic clients (Pitching solutions, presenting transactions to management, risk department, compliance, etc.).
  • Acts as Global Trade Banker for GLBA/COV customers i.e. will orchestrate the commercial strategy and business development across all desks worldwide.
  • Interacts and actively co-operates, cross-sells with Coverage Bankers, the other Trade Finance teams and other business lines of the bank (notably PCM, SGF and Global Finance business lines).
  • Works closely with Middle Office and Back Office teams in Paris to ensure proper execution of transactions originated.
  • Follows up on operational issues with Back Office teams and support functions (Compliance, Legal, Risk).
  • Reports evolution of TRA business (results and pipeline) to local Head of GTPS UK, Branch Management and TRA head office.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops relationships with corporates clients (existing and prospects).
  • Originates transactions (hunter).
  • Establishes yearly strategic plan for TRA UK.
  • Ensures all Trade Finance operations are completed in compliance with all TRA, SGLB and SG guidelines and instructions.
  • Actively cross-sells with other business lines (PCM, GLBA, EXT, SGF, NAT, AFMO, EURO...).
  • Follows-up Budget follow-up and Monthly Business Reviews.
  • Reports evolution of TRA business (results and pipeline) to local Head of GTPS UK, Branch Management and TRA head office.
  • Ensures prompt communication and problem handling concerning any regulatory matter (compliance, banking regulation, tax issues, etc...).
  • Participates to TRA Head-Office policy on country Risk and bank risks studies, including alert on sudden deterioration of risks.
  • Promotes innovation and digital solutions for clients, provides feedback to SG innovation teams on market intelligence.
  • Acts as local ambassador of TRA (potentially participates to local ICC events etc...).
  • Ensures all processes of back office functions of TRA UK which are fulfilled by Paris (or other non UK based teams) are fully documented to enable the incumbent and the Senior Manager (SMF) for GTPS UK to be able to supervise and ensure proper provision of these services to GTPS UK (with appropriate follow up and escalation points for any service issues) via formal Customer Service Agreements (CSA).

Profile required:

  • Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration.
  • Knowledge of traditional Trade Finance products (L/Cs, SBLCs, guarantees) and structured Trade Finance.
  • Good understanding of the risk drivers of the Trade business.
  • Experience in dealing with large multinational corporate client, corporate relationship managers and structured finance teams.
  • Excellent level of business penetration and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues.
  • Familiarity with credit analysis and risk-based profitability approach (RAROC, RWA...).
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Office software packages.
  • Familiarity with SG, GTPS and GLBA organisation.
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French can be a plus.
