A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm.
Main Responsibilities:
- Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports.
- Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
- Analytical review and analysis of financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and investigate variances.
- Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations.
- Completing all HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, liaising with group tax team and HMRC on inquiries.
- Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audit activities.
- Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts.
- Driving the teamβs automation strategy to redesign manual processes around financial operations.
- Deputising for Head of Finance as appropriate.
- Regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations and management under ICARA regime.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant with strong experience as a Financial Controller.
- Experience in team management.
- Analytical mindset, excited by new challenges and creating new processes.
- Ability to work accurately and meet strict deadlines.
- Academic qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with a minimum of 5 years post-qualified experience.
