Welding Engineer
Location: Dunbartonshire
Full time Staff Position
The role will be based in the Pipeline Group (PG) team. This is a varied role so you will demonstrate effective project activity management to assist in the achievement of strategic strategies and best practice for the Welding Engineering Department.
This role will require some travel, should have the ability to travel internationally to provide qualification or project support, as required.
Your Responsibilities:
These will include the delivery of activities such as R&D, welding procedure qualification, development and implementation at fabrication site as well as:
- Reviewing and driving the status of welding projects, supporting resolution of issues, providing technical assistance and taking corrective / improvement action as required.
- Maintaining the Welding Performance Qualification Test (WPQT) activities and ensuring targets are monitored and met as well as producing documentation, schedules and procedures.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of effective risk management solutions.
- Assisting in monitoring of technical developments / requirements and evaluating implications for PPG.
- Assisting the Welding Engineering Manager to identify, develop and improve tools and systems to enable Welding Engineers to develop and deliver projects more effectively.
- Supporting the Business Development and Commercial Department during the preparation of tender submissions and negotiations.
- Assisting in the development of technical solutions and preparing technical qualifications for bid to meet client requirements.
- Assisting Commercial Department to develop an accurate estimate of time, resource and materials.
Your experience, qualification and skills:
- Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or relevant discipline
- European / International Welding Engineer Qualification
- Experience as a Pipeline Welding Engineer
- Assumes responsibility for WPQT
- Effective project activity management
