What we expect
We are looking for a passionate Strategic Buyer to join our head office Procurement team on a 12 month FTC, who will report to our Head of Procurement & Supply Management. This role will primarily be responsible for managing strategic relationships and driving cost savings in our supply chain, managing sourcing initiatives and ensuring through our procurement activity the companyβs operational needs are met.
As a Strategic Buyer, your day to day will include:
- Functional steering and target setting for purchasing spend
- Prepare and execute contractual and price negotiations
- Enhance cost awareness and monitor expenses versus budget
- Deliver briefings, updates, and reports on key suppliers as and when required
- Meet with stakeholders and suppliers to discuss the procurement needs to determine best value
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers
- Undertake the necessary due diligence on prospective vendors and assist in managing the on-boarding process ensuring adherence to Procurement Policies and Procedures
- Support Operational Buyers within the procurement team where necessary
Who we are looking for
- 3+ years' experience in purchasing, ideally in a relevant industry
- Qualified or currently studying towards CIPS Qualification
- A strong understanding of procurement practices and processes
- Good negotiation experience in complex commodities/projects
- Good attention to detail, analytical and able to follow procedures
- Strong skills using MS Office, databases, and eProcurement systems
- Consistently works to deadlines
- Strong organisational and people skills
- Highly motivated, reliable and hardworking
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
