My Local Government client has an opportunity for a qualified accountant with a HRA housing background in Local Government to join them on a permanent basis. The role is focused on supporting the directorate in the delivery of housing across the city, including all social housing, council housing, and temporary accommodation.

The role is integral in supporting the development of the HRA 30-year plan as well as being involved in exciting and innovative projects and programmes of work with the transformation underway. The role will manage a team of group accountants and support the business partner with executive meetings and other committee and member support responsibilities.

You will be the trusted advisor to senior members of the council on financial matters, which includes setting annual budgets and ensuring short, medium, and long-term forecasts are robust. You will identify, analyse, and report on the financial implications of new initiatives in your area of responsibility.

To be successful in this role, you will need to build strong relationships with key stakeholders in your area and across the Council, allowing you to challenge and advise. A commitment to continual improvement is key, and you will need to consistently offer ideas to improve current practice and find efficiencies. There will be opportunities to work on cross-cutting projects that address issues across the council. Finally, you will need to manage and motivate your team to deliver.

To be considered, you will need to be a qualified accountant with experience of HRA and Housing in a local authority. The role is being offered on a hybrid basis with office presence required as and when needed. The salary is circa £52,000 to £56,000.
