Overview
Gujarati-speaking Befriender Volunteer role at Creative Support β we are currently looking for a Gujarati-speaking volunteer befriender to meet up regularly with one of our residents at our service in Harrow. If you can spare a couple of hours on a regular basis, weβd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Meet with a resident on a regular basis at our Harrow service.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns.
- Develop a friendship and enjoy conversations together, while respecting boundaries.
- Complete any training provided and attend regular volunteer supervisions with your volunteer supervisor.
- Engage in activities the resident enjoys, such as cooking, board games and card games, with the volunteer participating in these activities.
Requirements
- You are able to communicate confidently in Gujarati to engage in conversations.
- You are warm, chatty and a good listener.
- You are able to commit to volunteering on a regular basis (a couple of hours per week).
Support and Training
- Training for your role, access to a volunteer supervisor, an induction, a monthly volunteer newsletter, and an online volunteer support network group on Zoom.
