This is expected to last at least 12 months and will be based up to 50% of the working week at our client’s central London head office. As a Metering Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end metering lifecycle, including installation, maintenance, performance monitoring, and compliance with industry regulations. You will work closely with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure metering systems operate efficiently and provide a seamless experience for customers, acting as the subject matter expert for metering within our client’s UK operation. Key Responsibilities Act as national Metering and communications subject matter expert within our client’s UK operation and support regional project teams. Maintain metering requirements and standards for construction projects and maintenance operations, ensuring compatibility with internal processes. Provide expert knowledge in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AIM). Support project teams at initial design stages with advice on hardware, controls, and metering equipment selection to improve reliability and maintainability. Implement and review the metering strategy to meet current and future business needs. Manage relationships for metering contracts. Develop medium-term maintenance strategies and concepts for metering assets. Provide leadership and influence industry standards through policy and technical consultations. Participate in regional planning for major maintenance operations. Establish reporting systems on metering performance. Provide metering training for engineering and operational teams. Review acceptance tests and commissioning of metering systems. Maintain the HPAN register and central database of metering assets. Support commissioning of AMR equipment and act as escalation point for issues. Manage warranty information and lead warranty claims. Report on operational performance of metering assets. Qualifications and Experience • Engineering degree or formal Electronics/Controls qualification (Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent). • 5+ years experience in metering within the utilities sector. • Experience with network infrastructure, architecture, and administration. Knowledge and Skills Strong personal impact with customer orientation, entrepreneurial spirit, and business acumen. Ability to translate technical requirements into commercial impact and manage risks. Understanding of operational requirements from both commercial and technical perspectives. Excellent presentation and communication skills. Ability to influence stakeholders including authorities, developers, and partners. Risk management skills and understanding of commercial and technical risks. Knowledge of customer needs and drivers. Strong engineering skills with commercial awareness.
