SALARY: £14.82/hr
HOURS: 22.2 /week - 5 week rolling rota - Mon to Sun 8am to 9pm
DURATION: 4-6 months
The Employer: We are recruiting a person for the role of Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme - Support Worker within a housing environment. The Client is a large employer, based in the South West providing jobs for around 1800 people delivering services across a variety of fields, always looking to add to their ever developing pool of talent. They provide housing options for every level of requirements, from homelessness and helping people back onto their feet, through to people looking to buy a home for their retirement. Covering all areas of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, this employer offers stability and progression opportunities.
The Role: Working as part of a small support team, working with people with complex needs including substance misuse and mental ill-health who are at risk of homelessness. Focusing on 3 customers at any one time giving the opportunity to provide a high-quality service. Forming part of a larger team, who support people with complex needs across mid-Cornwall. Working closely with other agencies around specific needs including mental health, substance misuse, benefits, private letting agents and landlords and/or others and exploring options around education, training and employment. Writing, reviewing and updating support plans and risk assessments and taking a positive approach towards risk management. Taking a holistic approach to support the service also helps people to achieve their goals and aspirations and move forward with the skills to be independent in managing on their own.
The Candidate needs to:
- Have an understanding of support needs and support planning.
- Be motivated to make a positive contribution to the lives of the people we support and have a “can do” approach to their work.
- Have experience of risk assessing and risk management.
- Have a passion for helping people in the local community.
- Be a great communicator with the ability to build a rapport.
- Have accurate record keeping and computer skills.
- Be confident in lone working and be a good team player.
- Have a flexible approach to work.
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ideally hold an NVQ LVL 3 in a relevant field.
- Be resilient and adaptable.
- Have an open, friendly personality and the ability to maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations.
SUMMARY: This is an exciting role with opportunities to make a real difference to people’s lives. Working a 22.2 hour week over 5 days, including evenings and weekends. A DBS is required for this role at Enhanced level.
