Caseworker

Tan Dhesi MP is seeking a motivated, well-organised individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills—and a passion for helping others—to join his dedicated team as a full-time Caseworker (maternity cover), expected to last until at least March 2026.\\n\\nAs a key member of the team, you will support constituents with a range of issues, including benefits, housing, healthcare, and immigration.\\n\\nKey responsibilities:\\n\\n * Gather relevant information to help resolve casework\\n\\n * Respond to public enquiries via phone and email on matters such as housing, benefits, and school placements\\n\\n * Attend constituency meetings and surgeries; represent the MP when required\\n\\n * Analyse and interpret data to keep the MP informed on key issues\\n\\n * Draft and progress individual casework\\n\\n * Maintain confidential records in line with the Data Protection Act\\n\\n * Log, monitor, and follow up on all casework actions\\n\\n * Identify trends in enquiries and produce reports\\n\\n * Perform general administrative tasks (e.g. photocopying, filing, correspondence)\\n\\nThe ideal candidate will have:\\n\\n * A genuine passion for helping others\\n\\n * Excellent written and verbal communication skills\\n\\n * Fluency in another language, particularly Urdu, Punjabi or Hindi\\n\\n * A solid understanding of the UK political system and local government\\n\\n * Knowledge of housing, benefits, and immigration systems\\n\\n * Awareness of current affairs and local constituency issues\\n\\n * Strong IT skills, including casework software (e.g. Caseworker.mp)\\n\\n * Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail\\n\\n * Discretion, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially\\n\\n * Alignment with Labour Party values\\n\\n * Experience managing a caseload and prioritising tasks\\n\\n * Previous work in an MP’s office or similar public service environment\\n\\n * Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team\\n\\nUpon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the UK Parliament's Security Vetting and Pass Office.
