Reporting into the Head of Technical, profile for the role is as follows:

Summary
  • To ensure that all technical procedures and policies are effectively implemented in the factory and that the Quality and Food Safety system is adhered to through all stages of manufacture.
  • To ensure that products are produced to the agreed specification and that hygiene levels within the factory are maintained.
  • To ensure maintaining the highest GMP standard across the factory and that the site is audit ready at any time.
Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure all CCP checks within the process are performed at the required intervals and that the results are within specification, and to verify that CCP checks are within specification. To ensure corrective action is taken and recorded as required.
  • To order and collect finished product samples, raw material samples, environmental and hand swabs for the micro lab and compile results.
  • To ensure all paperwork relating to the production process is checked and filed daily.
  • To monitor that the quality and food safety system is adhered to through GMP audits, internal system audits, and traceability audits, and to ensure foreign body risks are kept to a minimum through fabric audits and glass audits.
  • To ensure products are labelled with correct labels, including the correct use by dates and batch codes during production, and to ensure all paperwork relating to temperature monitoring is printed out daily and inspected.
  • Aid in investigations into customer complaints as required.
  • Conduct taste panel exercises.
  • Conduct Induction Training for new staff and help maintain the company values, policies, and standards.
  • Make sound decisions regarding removing any substandard products or ingredients and reporting to the immediate supervisor or technical department.
  • Goods out checks and positive release.
  • Carrying out manual temperature checks.
  • Weekly calibration of scales and probes.
  • Monthly knife, glass, and hard plastic audits.
  • Promoting a safety and quality culture via teamwork and coaching colleagues in production.
Person Specifications
  • BSC (Hons) degree in relevant food technology discipline or equivalent certificates is preferable.
  • Good understanding of food manufacturing processes and food hygiene standards.
  • Working knowledge of BRC requirements and HACCP.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Organised and methodical way of working.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Good computer skills.
