Mainstay Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a leading facilities management provider to recruit an experienced and proactive Operations Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the effective, safe, and compliant delivery of maintenance and response works across key Ministry of Defence (MoD) sites.
About the Role: As Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of day-to-day site operations, overseeing maintenance service delivery to meet both statutory legislation and MoD requirements. Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, you'll monitor supply chain performance, manage risk assessments and method statements, and uphold high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. You'll act as a key liaison for customers, collaborating with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and end-users, resolving issues, and developing new work requirements. With responsibility for technical compliance including Asbestos and Legionella management, you'll work closely with Mobile Authorised Persons to maintain robust site safety, particularly in high-risk areas such as confined spaces and working at height.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver maintenance services in full compliance with legislation and safety standards
- Oversee subcontractor performance and adherence to quality, cost, and safety expectations
- Maintain accurate progress records in the CAFM system
- Lead and coach on-site teams to achieve operational excellence and a strong safety culture
- Act as a central point of contact for customer issues and complaints
- Provide technical guidance to helpdesk teams
- Support commercial decisions to ensure value for money and profitable delivery
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- An HNC or equivalent in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- A management-level Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SMSTS)
- Proven experience in managing hard services within facilities management
- Strong working knowledge of property maintenance and compliance practices
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word
- A proactive, solution-focused attitude with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
