BAM Infrastructure is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Commercial Assistant to join our dynamic team delivering major civil engineering projects across Scotland. This is a pivotal role, contributing to high-profile infrastructure developments particularly in the energy sector as we help shape Scotland's journey to net zero.

You will play a key part in supporting and enhancing commercial performance across multiple projects, including the construction of critical substations. You will bring a keen commercial eye, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role will be initially based at our Kilsyth Office, then move to a site-based position.

Your mission:

As a Senior Commercial Assistant, you will work closely with the commercial and project teams to ensure robust cost control, accurate reporting, and contractual compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the collation and analysis of commercial data across project workstreams.
  • Supporting monthly cost and value reconciliations, including preparing accruals and forecasts.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring timely, accurate processing of payments and invoices.
  • Producing high-quality cost-monitoring reports and identifying variances or risks for escalation.
  • Maintaining and improving cost-capture systems and commercial reporting tools.
  • Coordinating with operational teams to ensure accurate allocation and tracking of resources.
  • Taking ownership of document control processes related to commercial functions.
  • Mentoring junior commercial staff and contributing to continuous improvement across the department.
  • Ensuring full compliance with internal procedures, contract terms, and procurement policies.

Who are we looking for?

  • English and Mathematics National Qualifications or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a commercial or quantity surveying support role, preferably within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Advanced IT proficiency, especially in Excel, cost systems, and MS Office suite.
  • A strong interest in the construction sector and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
