Salary: £32,593 p/ a (NJC Scale Range 15 – 19) Inc. LW + pensions and other benefits Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, excluding breaks, Monday – Friday Annual Leave: 34 days per year, including Bank/ Statutory Holidays (pro-rata for part time) As Administration and Advice Worker you will manage Housing Benefit claims; ensure financial accounting systems are maintained and up to date; manage the Passage House Assessment Centre client database system; provide benefits advice to clients and minute taking. To complete Housing benefit Claim forms for all clients staying at the Centre. Manage the claims in liaison with project staff and the Housing Benefit Department, including sending letters and emails to best support the clients claim and maintain rental income for the project. Manage the petty cash system and other financial accounting using excel spreadsheets. Regularly update the client database system. Providing advice and support to clients on benefits claims. Taking minutes for the weekly team meeting. General responsibilities In conjunction with the Assessment & Resettlement Coordinator to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage. To participate in internal/external meetings as required, attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary. To participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal, and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs. To ensure that all The Passage policies and procedures are being adhered to, particularly those relating to Code of Practice and Confidentiality. To contribute to the effective implementation of The Passage’s Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both The Passage and its work with vulnerable adults. To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of The Passage. Desired experience Experience of maximising housing benefit income and using Excel spreadsheets. An interest in delivering support services to socially excluded clients in an Assessment Centre or similar setting, either in a voluntary or paid capacity. Experience of working within a team and achieving strong and effective relationships with others in order to achieve organisational aims and objectives. Experience of using a variety of engagement skills with clients. Experience of data collection and analysis. Desired knowledge Knowledge of homelessness, understanding of the varied needs of homeless people and those at acute risk of homelessness. Knowledge of Health and Safety, and the implications of this in the working environment. Knowledge of requirements of Supporting People and psychologically informed ways of working within a residential setting. An understanding and experience of working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of the benefits system.
