The Associate Data Governance Analyst plays a vital role in driving data empowerment across the organization by promoting data literacy while supporting foundational data governance practices. This role focuses on helping employees understand, access, and use data effectively, while ensuring that data is managed responsibly, consistently, and in alignment with governance standards. What You Do:
- Data Governance Implementation & Support: Assist in day-to-day data governance activities, including data documentation, data quality monitoring, and issue resolution. Support data stewardship efforts, helping to define and maintain data ownership, accountability, and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and maintain data definitions, data dictionaries, and metadata in the data catalog. Participate in data governance working groups and facilitate discussions on data standards, policies, and issue resolution.
- Data Literacy & Stakeholder Collaboration: Develop and deliver training, documentation, and resources that enable business stakeholders to understand, interpret, and use data effectively in their roles. Design and manage scalable data literacy initiatives, including e-learning modules, workshops, and office hours. Build strong partnerships with business knowledge experts to help investigate, document, and translate complex business datasets. Evaluate data literacy skills across departments to identify gaps and recommend targeted interventions or training.
- Foster a Data-Driven Culture: Translate technical and analytical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences. Broadcast examples of teams or individuals who have leveraged data effectively to drive business outcomes. Develop awareness and engagement content to be presented to the organization to inspire stakeholders to partake in the data community and become more data driven. Help create and curate a data knowledge base, including definitions, FAQs, and guides to promote self-service analytics and data understanding.
- Technology & Data Governance Tools: Manage and optimize data governance platforms, ensuring accurate documentation of business terms, metadata, and data lineage. Support the administrative activities for the data catalog and governance tools, overseeing user access, configuration, and system enhancements in collaboration with IT teams. Monitor system usage and provide recommendations for process improvements, automation, and governance enhancements. Support change management efforts to increase adoption of data governance tools and practices across the organization.
Your Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required, with preference in data management, information science, business, or related field.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in data management or data related business role.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- A passion for enabling others and improving organizational data fluency.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts, principles, tools, and best practices.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate documentation of data governance activities.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to independently lead and deliver results through collaboration and teamwork, with minimal supervision.
- Experience creating training material, documentation, or enablement programs a plus.
