We are currently looking for Vehicle Maintenance Technicians to join our team based at London Gateway Port in Stanford le Hope. We operate 24/7, with shifts lasting 12 hours, including day and night shifts. In a two-week period, you'll work 7 shifts with every other weekend off.
Experience in the automotive industry as a Vehicle Technician, HGV, LGV technician, or related roles is preferred. The primary responsibility of the Vehicle Maintenance Technician is to ensure the smooth operation of terminal activities by maintaining cranes and mobile equipment. Technicians are assigned to asset groups to perform planned maintenance, repairs, project work, and assist with the delivery, inspection, and commissioning of new equipment. This role involves working with machinery such as quay cranes, terminal tractors, shuttles, and straddle carriers. No two days are the same, ranging from critical repairs to general gear box maintenance.
How will you contribute:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in line with safety standards to minimize equipment downtime, including electrical duties.
- Gather and report data during work on assets to Engineering Planners.
- Manage and supervise contractors during equipment delivery, commissioning, and maintenance, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Support the development and updating of method statements and risk assessments for maintenance activities.
- Lead by example to promote safe working practices.
- Collaborate with stores and Asset Managers to maintain inventory and stock levels.
- Innovate and improve processes for optimal productivity and equipment performance.
- Ensure all work complies with HSE and corporate standards, maintaining high standards for equipment availability, dependability, and safety.
What will you Bring Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, etc.).
- Experience in automotive industries as a Vehicle Technician, HGV, LGV technician, or related roles is advantageous.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance, including gearboxes, engines, hydraulics, lifting equipment, and basic electrical understanding.
- Experience with HSE regulations related to equipment maintenance.
