Transport Broker / Trader - Full Time

Location: Hinckley

Salary: £34,000 starting, rising to £38,000 after 6 months + Bonus + On-call Pay

Hours: Monday-Friday, 45 hours/week

Start Time: Between 07:00 - 09:00

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

About The Role

A well-established and privately owned logistics company is looking for an experienced Transport Broker / Trader to join their close-knit operations team. Specialising in managed transport services, the business supports a diverse client base across manufacturing, retail, and logistics sectors throughout the UK and Ireland. This role is based at modern offices in Hinckley, within easy commuting distance of Nuneaton, Coventry, Rugby, Atherstone, Lutterworth, and Leicester. The company also operates a core fleet alongside a strong network of subcontract hauliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and allocate loads daily to maximise profit margins
  • Schedule deliveries accurately and in line with customer expectations
  • Source additional work through freight trading platforms
  • Maintain and develop relationships with customers and haulier partners
  • Monitor delivery performance and communicate any delays proactively
  • Meet operational KPIs and maintain accurate data within the TMS (Mandata)
  • Contribute to a collaborative and performance-driven team environment

What We're Looking For

Experience & Skills:

  • Previous experience in subcontract haulage or freight brokerage
  • Confident negotiating transport rates with hauliers
  • Strong UK geographical knowledge and understanding of the general haulage market
  • Familiarity with transport regulations (driver hours, WTD, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and telephone skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and transport management systems

Education & Attributes

  • GCSE-level education or above
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Organised, proactive, and commercially aware
  • A team player with the ability to work independently
