About the Role: Design Directors in this agency play a pivotal role in shaping exceptional design and brand storytelling. Acting as both a hands-on creative and a team leader, you will lead concept development, and ensure the highest standards of execution across projects. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, ideas-driven, and collaborative environment where craft and strategic thinking go hand in hand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of original and impactful design concepts from brief to final delivery
- Translate strategy into intelligent, creative solutions that align with both client and studio goals
- Present work with clarity and confidence to clients and internal teams
- Act as a mentor and sounding board for designers, fostering both creative growth and accountability
- Support the development and rollout of our design process, guiding team members and freelancers through each phase
- Work closely with strategy and editorial to co-create holistic brand concepts and narratives
- Commission and direct external collaborators (photographers, illustrators, animators, etc.) as needed
- Partner with account teams to deliver work on time, on budget, and to brief
- Champion craft, precision, and quality control in your own work and when reviewing others’
- Contribute to agency development by helping identify new talent, improving our creative output, and supporting business growth
- Help refine how we present work — from internal reviews to client-facing decks and pitches
Qualifications & Attributes:
- 7+ years of experience in a design studio or agency, with a strong portfolio of brand-led work
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Keynote, and Figma
- Skilled at balancing creative excellence with strategically led design solutions.
- A confident visual thinker with an eye for craft and a commitment to originality
- Strong design leadership skills with a generous, collaborative approach.
- A relevant design degree or similar qualification
