The predicted salary is between 21500 - 30000 £ per year.

The DSEME mission is to train and educate electronic, mechanical and specialist tradesmen, technical leaders and engineering managers in order to meet the requirements of Defence and needs of trainees now and into the future. The tasks of the Department are to support HQ DSEME in delivering College and Programme-led initiatives and objectives.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

As a tri-service training establishment, training and administrative outputs must be maintained in order to sustain and sufficiently administrate the Battalion Headquarters and DSEME G1 administration for Discipline. To provide routine and dynamic clerical support to Battalion Headquarters, working closely with the Commanding Officer, Adjutant, RSM and other BHQ staff, supporting and enabling activity in the Battalion Headquarters.

To provide administrative support in Battalion Headquarters in the following areas:

  • Assist with Unit Postal Movements
  • Assistant to the SSA including assistance of Disc case file administration.
  • Work efficiently within a team (Adjt, SSA and Clerk) to administrate the discipline of all Army SP within the Discipline sphere.
  • Compile and Produce Battalion Part One/Special Orders on a weekly basis, ensuring that any requested entries are inserted, then submit to the Adjt for approval and subsequent publishing on to the Battalion SharePoint and Defence Connect sites.
  • General Secretarial Support, filing and archiving documents and letters.
  • Management of the BHQ stationery requirements.
  • Assisting coordination and managing the HQ resources and infra including Conference rooms.
  • Support Sub Unit clerks with administration.
  • Monitor and manage App21 Medial Discharge on PAPMIS and once the App 21 is completed ensure that all relevant documentation is completed in a timely manner for a successful discharge.
  • Control and maintain the Battalion Orderly Officer (BOO) tracker, allocating duties at least a month in advance, and ensuring that duties are allocated as fairly as possible.
  • Manage the application and issue of Long Service and Good Conduct medals in respect of members of 8 Training Battalion, ensuring that the correct paperwork is processed and forwarded to MOD Medal Office.
  • Complete the input of data into PAPMIS after monthly and quarterly CMCR meetings to ensure that these meetings are reflected on individuals’ records.
  • Manage the system to ensure that all records have a corresponding up to date App9 and inform the Medical Centre and Coy’s of any deficiencies.
  • Management of the CDT tracker and discharges.

The successful candidate will be versatile with a flexible approach to accommodate the constantly evolving needs of the service persons administrative requirements. This will consist of conducting daily administration duties and being the point of contact for military personnel within the Battalion Headquarters whilst adhering to policy and regulations.

The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period. Please Note: Expenses incurred for travel to interviews will not be reimbursed.
