Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day maintenance of the laboratories, laboratory stocks, and equipment in collaboration with other technicians and the Company’s Facilities & Laboratory Operations team.
- Conduct routine laboratory procedures and defined experimental investigations with supervision and guidance from colleagues and managers.
- Run pre-established experimental procedures, with guidance from managers or colleagues.
- Coordinate scientific instruments maintenance and calibration.
- Propose and/or implement improvements to technical operations in department/building after consultation with, and agreement of colleagues and managers.
- Mentor junior technicians.
- Prepare communal laboratory reagents and biological samples.
- Manage stock control, purchasing, and timely distribution of lab reagents and consumables.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping tasks, including waste disposal and treatment.
- Maintain laboratory glassware and accurate records of completed work.
- Maintain and increase technical knowledge in relevant field through self-study, observation, and attending relevant training courses.
Education, Experience and Knowledge:
Essential:
- Worked within a laboratory environment in industry, healthcare, or an academic setting.
- Experience in operating and maintaining standard laboratory equipment.
- Experience in producing general laboratory reagents.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques and adopt new practices.
- Contributed within a diverse team environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
- Proven ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent time management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role in industry, healthcare, or academia.
- Previous laboratory experience within protein engineering, microbiology, or cell biology area.
- Experience in aseptic techniques.
