Location: Liverpool onsite 2 x week Role: Litigated Motor Claims Handler Description To assist with Litigated Road Traffic Accident claims and, where required, to effectively manage a portfolio of litigated small claims track files under the supervision and guidance of a Supervisor. The role involves handling both quantum and liability small claims and some lower value fast track cases efficiently and proactively, utilising effective telephone negotiation techniques to obtain appropriate settlements. This position is ideal for someone starting in litigated file handling and looking to develop the skills necessary to manage a full litigated caseload. Induction training will be provided, along with ongoing support and mentoring from a senior handler or supervisor. Key Accountabilities Manage a caseload of Small Claims Track cases, ensuring deadlines are met through effective planning and organisation. Achieve performance targets and uphold quality standards. Analyze evidence to develop initial case strategies on liability and quantum. Conduct telephone negotiations with clients, defendants, third-party insurers, and solicitors to facilitate efficient case settlements and cost apportionment. Proof witnesses, assess evidence, and draft statements. Draft court documents and meet all court deadlines. Instruct, brief, and liaise with Counsel. Guide defendants through the litigation process and set appropriate expectations. Maintain case management, billing, and management information systems accurately and timely. Delegate tasks appropriately within the team. Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements. Update reports with new evidence as received. Provide accurate progress updates to clients. Ensure files comply with ISO 9001 guidelines and SRA Standards & Regulations. Working Hours 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid lunch hour. The office location can be Liverpool or Leeds. Experience, Skills, and Qualifications Relevant legal education or experience. File handling experience within a law practice or insurer. Good understanding of highway code and basic road traffic laws. Ability to plan and prioritise workloads. Efficiency in a process-driven environment. Motivated to develop and take on new opportunities with a positive attitude. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
