With a rich history of excellence in designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide, we are now offering an exciting new opportunity for a Plant Performance Engineer within our Embedded Generation business. Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers’ specific needs and provide design, build, operate, and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise can help industrial businesses to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

Key Activities:

  • The Plant Performance Engineer will be responsible for interpretation of plant design and plant operational data to monitor performance and identify performance shortfalls and improvement opportunities.
  • The Performance Engineer will also provide guidance on management of installed assets on the various contracts/sites, advising the site teams on implementation of best practices to deliver continuous improvement in asset management and assisting the site teams in improving plant reliability, availability, and efficiency whilst minimising costs.
  • Provide support and expertise to improve plant performance, and root cause analysis of plant performance degradation.
  • Work with the team to deliver maximum efficiency from existing assets and scheme operation.
  • Assist with ongoing analysis of the energy schemes trends and performance, diagnosing problems and making recommendations.
  • Assist in delivering and implementing rectification plans to ensure that energy is delivered consistently and efficiently to meet contractual and financial requirements.
  • Assist with investment proposals for capital investment projects in system optimisation.
  • Carry out analysis that will improve current methodologies for tracking asset improvement projects savings.
  • Support in optimising the existing business energy data collection platforms and data transfer from meters via Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices.
  • Review and support upgrade of existing CHPs and gas boilers process safety controls and control philosophy, including assets prioritisation use in the system.
  • Develop a plant performance reporting structure for routine reporting to the Divisional Leadership Team.
  • Administer CHP QA and UK ETS for the divisional assets.
  • Prepare contractual performance reports for submission to the Customer.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Motivated and professional engineer who wishes to commit to a role which will provide both opportunity and challenge.
  • Qualified to a minimum 2:2 degree level in Mechanical, Process or equivalent Engineering Discipline or equivalent proven experience.
  • Membership or working towards membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution.
  • Technical experience on some of the following: design and/or operation of energy schemes/centres, heating and cooling systems, CHPs, boilers, utilities, biomass power plants, etc.
  • High level of proficiency in data analysis using Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of the UK regulatory, energy, and carbon policies would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written.
  • Experience liaising with stakeholders and clients directly.
