About HVDC
HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group within Hitachi Energy, developing, manufacturing, and selling DC transmission systems globally. HVDC technology transmits electricity over long distances, via submarine cables, and connects power systems.
The Role
We are seeking an engaging and driven individual to lead the cross-functional HVDC team based in the United Kingdom. You will be part of the HVDC team, reporting to the Head of Engineering UK. This is an office-based role; preferred location is Glasgow, with consideration for central Birmingham for highly suitable candidates. Please note we cannot provide visa support for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers within the HVDC engineering team based in Glasgow and Birmingham.
- Provide strategic direction focusing on technology, safety, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.
- Support project deliverables ensuring KPIs are met.
- Collaborate with local and global management to align strategic and operational plans.
- Ensure process adherence and quality assurance.
- Live Hitachi Energy’s Leadership Pillars as a role model.
- Drive continuous improvement, identify KPIs, and enhance efficiency.
- Implement HVDC strategic initiatives to achieve business alignment.
- Plan team composition with global managers.
- Oversee individual and team development to meet business needs.
- Ensure quality output through ownership of process adherence.
- Report progress, team activities, and risks.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- Experience in management techniques, team development, or project management within BIM, Plants, and Civil.
- Passion for people and technology, strong decision-making skills, and self-management capabilities.
- Collaborative, willing to work in an office environment.
- Excellent communication skills, proficient with Teams and O365.
- Open-minded, curious, and proactive in problem-solving and process improvement.
- Understanding of deadlines and budgets, with a strong sense of responsibility.
