Our Sustainability team specialises in helping client organisations to measure, manage and reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and achieve wider sustainability aims. Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Delivery of city/regional carbon reduction programmes;
- Development of carbon management strategies, including Net Zero strategies;
- Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas reporting, and associated ESG disclosures;
- Identification and assessment of energy saving opportunities and investment case support;
- Green building certification assurance on real estate capital projects;
- Estates decarbonisation plan and heat decarbonisation plans;
- Net Zero programme management and delivery.
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated professionals in Net Zero and sustainability to fulfil the role of Senior Consultant in our Sustainable Cities & Workplaces team - a friendly, inclusive, and fast-growing team of sustainability consultants that supports clients with their transition to low-carbon, sustainable future models.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with high-profile clients from various sectors, while developing and delivering a broad range of sustainability services. You will join a talented team with real breadth to make a positive impact on society. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality sustainability, Net Zero, and energy efficiency consultancy advice for non-domestic buildings, estates, and cities. For this you will need experience and understanding of some of the following:
- Review design team plans for new/retrofit projects and guide them to achieve a more sustainable outcome;
- Act as sustainability advisor on large capital projects;
- Provide capital project support on certification (e.g. BREEAM, LEED);
- Support the development of business cases;
- Play a key role in managing projects, including client liaison, team resource coordination, and budget oversight;
- Review, analyse, and benchmark energy performance data;
- Develop costed decarbonisation roadmaps for buildings/estates/cities and integrate them within Corporate Net Zero programmes and strategy.
We are looking to add a range of skills and experience to the team, not necessarily all in the same individual, including:
- Suitably qualified in a related subject or appropriate industry experience;
- Certified assessor to one or more green building certification standards (BREEAM, LEED, WELL NABERS UK etc) across a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments;
- Experience in undertaking building environmental assessments and certifications e.g. BREEAM, WELL and similar for new builds, fit-outs, and refurbishments;
- Able to guide project teams on sustainability and environmental best practices to meet certification requirements;
- Experience in reviewing and verifying project documentation to ensure compliance with green building certification criteria;
- Provide consultancy and support on sustainability targets, energy efficiency, and low-carbon design;
- Knowledge of building performance and LCA tools;
- Project Management experience;
- Attention to detail in service delivery, communications, and working with others;
- Effective client and stakeholder relationship management experience;
- Ability to review, analyse and benchmark energy performance in the built environment;
- Understanding on how to collate an organisational carbon footprint of scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions;
- Excellent analytical and communication skills;
- Good commercial awareness including the ability to articulate business decisions within the wider context and market trends.
Desirable:
- Has managed BREEAM/LEED/other assessments through the whole lifecycle, from pre-assessment to post-construction certification;
- Sustainable architecture / MEP design background;
- Experience in creating decarbonisation plans for buildings, estates, or cities;
- Experience of line management;
- Experience of business development including preparing proposals or responding to tenders;
- Experience in a consulting or advisory role;
- Contract delivery and conflict resolution;
- Project Management qualification;
- Knowledge of embodied or whole life carbon calculation or strategy on refurbishment and new build projects;
- Climate risk assessment and / or climate resilience strategy;
- Strategy/project delivery experience in the built environment;
- Relevant chartership or professional membership (e.g. CIBSE, IEMA, IEE) certified;
- Experience of working with corporate clients, FTSE companies or global businesses;
- Enthusiasm for growing a team and business in a fast-moving environment;
- Stay updated on changes in BREEAM standards, regulations, and industry trends.
