Take this rare opportunity to operate as a technical specialist within a major environmental consultancy and continue to develop your existing GIS skills as the new GIS technician. You'll be working for a company that prioritises its employee's mental wellbeing, operating on a 4-day work week whilst maintaining 5-day pay rates, allowing you to focus on anything from your own personal development & hobbies to spending time with friends and family. This GIS technician will be largely home-based and is open to all our clients' offices which you would need to be willing to commute to on occasion for meetings and training purposes. Our client has offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Devon, Bristol and Cardiff, so if you're nearby to any of these locations or willing to travel, get in touch!

Responsibilities:

  • Support GIS outputs across the Ecology team.
  • Implement and maintain GIS strategy to enable future growth within the team.
  • Develop and implement scripts with the aim of making data workflows more efficient.
  • Migrate existing and legacy data to a current standard so all data is relevant and correct.
  • Support with internal staff training and onboarding in relation to GIS software.
  • Travel to other clients' offices on occasion when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience with supporting an environmental team in either an environmental or ecological consultancy setting.
  • Work alongside the Ecology tech team to communicate and drive progress effectively.
  • Possess a strong, working knowledge of QGIS as well as other GIS software if possible.
  • Experience with setting up, cleaning and maintaining spatial datasets and management systems.
  • Experienced using various digital field surveying applications.
  • Possess a full UK driver's license.
