I'm working with a well-established engineering consultancy who are looking to bring a Principal Civil Engineer - Power into their growing Power team.

Based out of their Manchester office (or potentially one of their other UK offices), you would be stepping into a key delivery role on a range of major infrastructure projects. This is a small but specialist team within their wider Civil & Structural group, focusing entirely on the Power sector - things like substations, transition stations, and converter stations for high-voltage infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.

You’ll be leading civil and structural work on major schemes as a Principal Civil Engineer - Power - overseeing everything from site-wide layouts and bunding to structural foundations, roads, drainage and fencing. Projects are often complex and multi-disciplinary, so you’ll also be involved in programme management, resource planning and client liaison, alongside the technical side. Some design work may still fall to you directly, depending on the size and setup of the project - but you’ll mostly be overseeing delivery and coordination, rather than sitting purely on CAD or calculations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and coordinating the civil & structural elements of energy and infrastructure schemes
  • Managing delivery, programme, resourcing and quality control
  • Acting as a key technical contact and trusted advisor to clients
  • Overseeing or reviewing designs for buildings, foundations, layouts and site infrastructure
  • Working closely with internal PMs, engineers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong civil/structural background - ideally with 10+ years’ experience
  • Preferably experienced in the Power sector (National Grid, SSE, interconnectors etc.) - although experience in rail, highways or wider infrastructure will be considered
  • Comfortable managing the delivery side of projects (cost, resourcing, programme etc.)
  • Able to work across multiple stakeholders, keeping the commercial and technical on track
  • Chartered (or very close to it) - they’re happy to support someone finishing off the process, but you need to be well into it
  • HND, HNC or degree qualified in Civil Engineering
  • Based within reach of one of their UK offices - ideally Manchester - and able to be in the office 1+ day per week as part of their hybrid model

What’s in it for you:

  • £55,000 - £70,000 salary, depending on experience
  • Car allowance + discretionary bonus
  • Flexible hybrid working (minimum 1 day per week in-office)
  • Private health, pension, life assurance and other benefits
  • Good headroom for progression - the Power team is growing fast
  • A chance to work on high-profile infrastructure projects with real technical interest
  • The team is around 20 strong, including engineers at all levels from graduates through to Associate - so there’s a good balance of experience, and a clear path for growth if you want to push on.

If you’re a C&S Engineer with solid delivery experience, and you’re either already in the Power sector or looking to move into it, I’d be happy to tell you more.

Drop me a message or apply now - all conversations are kept in confidence.
