This role will suit someone from a manufacturing, energy, or renewables background who has experience overseeing the day-to-day operations and contracts of a team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and support staff installing building services equipment into highly regulated environments.
Atomic Talent has a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Operations and Contracts Manager to join a well-established organisation that specialises in the design and manufacture of high integrity heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment for the Renewables sector. The main purpose of the role is to oversee the Project Management Department and be responsible for the successful execution of Projects from Purchase Order stage through to final delivery, invoicing, and payment.
Role and Responsibility
- Working with Sales / Proposals Department on previously identified major projects to give support and obtain understanding of project costs, design, and specification.
- Initial involvement with sales/proposal on client discussion during bid/quote clarification phase.
- Involvement with sales/proposal on creation and understanding of job handover/costing upon receipt of order.
- Overseeing the workload/resources of: Senior Project Engineers, Project Engineer(s), Project Co-Ordinator, Document controller/technical document controller, Autocad Engineers, 3D Designers, Design Engineers, Specialist Subcontract Engineers.
- Ensure adequate resource and structure to progress contracts to completion by means of creation of all necessary documentation, drawings, designs, schedules, purchased parts, work instructions, cost amendments, manufacturing record books, VDRL requirements, shipping documents, and invoicing.
- Overseeing overall management of the packages/projects as a formal point-of-contact for the client and dealing with client queries, issues, complaints, changes, problems; including ability to progress job through company and highlight and deal with any potential issues that could cause delay or affect project profit/margins.
- Liaising with Commercial Director as necessary to feedback progress of contracts on a regular basis.
- Ensuring projects/packages stay within budget and all financial changes are tracked and highlighted back to company and sales forecast is achieved, or risks identified and dealt with/actioned in appropriate time.
- Dealing with management/HR/personnel issues of Projects team.
- Mentoring/knowledge sharing/meeting with team on a regular basis.
- Involvement in company schemes/meetings to deal with business improvement, development, and growth.
- Working closely with Operations Manager to ensure adequate manufacturing resource is available to execute Projects and deliver finished products on time.
- The Manager is responsible for personal safety and that of all personnel under his authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities including a commitment to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.

Skills/Qualifications Minimum Requirements
- Sound understanding of Project Management principles
- Previous Management experience
- Ability to use MS Excel and Word to successfully run and manage projects
- Good communication skills (via telephone, face-to-face, and email)
- Good organisation and interpersonal skills
- Proven manufacturing background
- Experience of working with/dealing with large OEMs
- Previous experience of work on large projects and product manufacture
- Conscientious, affable
- Be willing & able to mentor in an effective manner
- Organised and able to communicate
