Canopius has an established team of Property Binders underwriters and claims adjusters working collaboratively to provide exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to our clients. The underwriting team provides insurance for a wide range of delegated authority coverages in North America, the United Kingdom, and globally. Coverage includes personal property, commercial property, commercial automobile property damage, and auto liability. Our underwriters are market-leading experts in their specialist areas. This variety offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with internal and external stakeholders on claims across different risks, jurisdictions, and industries. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented claims professional to proactively manage property binder claims from initial notification through settlement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the portfolio.
- Proactively adjust claims within your authority, in line with the Canopius Claims Vision and claims manual, ensuring high-quality service and effective claim resolution.
- Ensure sufficient financial provisions are held for all claims, following Canopius’s reserving philosophy.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, especially underwriters and actuaries.
- Manage delegated claims according to Canopius’s claims values, including oversight of TPAs/Service Providers through regular contact, peer reviews, and sharing best practices.
- Coordinate with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to achieve optimal outcomes while controlling costs and claims leakage.
Skills and Experience
- Experience as a claims handler with North American delegated authority claims.
- Experience with UK delegated claims handling is advantageous.
- Knowledge of policy coverage, claims negotiation, and strategy.
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, and territorial issues related to policy wordings.
- Ability to manage complex issues, escalate appropriately, and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of the Lloyd’s insurance market is preferred but not essential.
- Act with honesty, integrity, and fairness at all times.
- Willingness to take responsibility and accountability.
