The Freight Operation Manager will provide customer management teams with the best solutions that can increase product revenues and profits while enhancing freight product operations, efficiency, and reducing costs. You will be the primary contact for clients regarding freight inquiries, maintaining strong relationships and delivering tailored solutions. You will procure competitive rates, manage shipments, and support sales efforts.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with clients to foster loyalty and retention.
- Negotiate competitive rates with carriers, agents, and offices to secure the best pricing for clients.
- Exceed freight targets through proactive management and strategic initiatives.
- Provide market data to the Station Manager and Customer Management Teams (CMT), including competition, projects, and profitability reports.
- Conduct training for CMTs and new hires to improve product awareness and selling effectiveness.
- Identify high-potential employees and propose career development plans.
- Facilitate communication between CMTs and Operations teams.
- Assist CMTs in resolving operational issues.
- Share updated sales and pricing lists with CMTs and ensure compliance.
- Support shipments requiring special shipping requirements.
- Report product status to the country manager monthly.
- Visit customers with CMTs and offer solutions for their projects.
- Participate in product exhibitions and events.
- Approve Amendment Request Notices (ARNs).
- Provide rates for tenders and support CMTs in customizing offers.
- Communicate new campaigns and share discount rates with CMTs.
- Adhere to HSSE, compliance, and sustainability policies.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in air freight forwarding, with knowledge of global trade lanes.
- Experience in customer service and managing key clients.
- Familiarity with CargoWise is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written communication skills.
