So Energy was created in 2015 because we knew energy suppliers could be better. Since then, we’ve grown rapidly but sustainably, with 300,000 customers and over 450 Energists (what we call our people). But we’re not done. We’re on the road to a net zero future, and thanks to our partnership with ESB, we’re well on the way. We’re customer-centric, tech-led, and passionate about sustainability.
The Role:
Reporting into our Marketing Director Michael Campbell, we’re looking for a Head of Growth to join the team. The Head of Growth will develop and implement sales and retention strategies to deliver ambitious commercial targets across an evolving range of energy, solar and EV propositions.
You will be responsible for leading the growth marketing team and overseeing performance across email and CRM, price comparison websites, telephony, direct response advertising, affiliates, referrals, partnerships and specialist sales brokers. You will bring a proactive and solution-oriented approach, working with colleagues, external partners and agencies to ensure effective collaboration. You will be confident using data, customer insight and experience to prioritise initiatives based on impact.
This is a high-profile position requiring effective leadership skills, broad commercial and marketing experience and the ability to deliver ambitious sales and retention targets in a scale-up environment.
What you’ll be getting up to:
- Build and execute a growth strategy aligned to business goals to improve sales, retention and customer lifetime value.
- Lead and manage the growth marketing team, supporting and nurturing their development while ensuring high performance.
- Define relevant metrics and KPIs, analyse performance and establish reporting to demonstrate progress against targets.
- Manage sales and retention budgets, with robust processes to allocate and track spend and ensure return on investment.
- Instil a commercial focus within the team, prioritising delivery against targets and finding tactical solutions to secure growth.
- Build productive relationships and effective ways of working with external sales partners, agencies, PCWs and affiliates.
- Accelerate growth by identifying new sales channels, overseeing robust tests and scaling up based on performance.
- Ensure an integrated and customer-centric approach to creative and messaging, in close collaboration with Brand.
- Oversee customer marketing including email and CRM, to increase engagement, retention and customer lifetime value.
- Co-lead cross-functional teams with product, tech and propositions leads to deliver shared commercial initiatives.
- Proactively contribute to Marketing Leadership and So Leaders to build a strong culture and effective ways of working.
- Oversee effective regulatory and risk management processes.
- Support the Marketing Director on team development, strategic initiatives and business development projects as required.
This role will be a great fit if:
- Motivated and commercially minded marketing leader experienced in driving growth for a scaling B2C business.
- Proven track record of increasing sales by developing and implementing successful multi-channel strategies.
- Experienced in delivering successful initiatives to improve retention and customer lifetime value.
- An effective people leader, confident in managing performance and coaching managers to reach their potential.
- Broad channel experience including email and CRM, direct marketing, advertising, sales partnerships and affiliates.
- Capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams alongside product, tech, data and other functions.
