The OCT Engineer will work onshore in Aberdeen and at offshore locations. A background in Offshore Critical Telecoms and basic network engineering is required. The engineer will work predominantly with Service Delivery Managers, clients and globally dispersed team members to ensure OCT Managed Support Service obligations to customer are met. Willingness to perform physical installations, testing and fault diagnosis is mandatory as is maintaining documentation.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide support to Service Delivery Managers, Operations Team and clients
- Manage various stakeholder interfaces
- Time management and Activity management
- Change Management including preparation of CRQ’s
- Able to diagnose, co-ordinate and resolve technical issues with telecoms systems and equipment including but not limited to Platform General Alarm Systems, CCTV, Satellite Telephony, UHF & VHF Radio systems, licensing and VSAT
- Provide guidance on technical standards and specifications for telecoms systems and equipment
- Site surveys
- Installation, configuration and testing of infrastructure at local and remote locations
- Identify improvement opportunities within the telecoms scope
- Specialist vendor engagement, procurement of parts and licenses
- Equipment shipping and logistics
- Maintain documents and diagrams
- Monitoring and diagnosis of performance issues in conjunction with Operations Team
- Able to prepare technical documentation e.g. survey findings and work packs
- Continued improvement activities
Qualifications
- Required BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) Certification
- MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training) Certification
- Strong exposure in the delivery of highly scalable, economically feasible and high performing systems within a functional delivery matrix of Critical Telecoms, Enterprise and Major Project environments
- Over 5 years’ experience in Offshore Telecoms systems and communications networks
- Experience of Technical Assurance within an EPC environment in the Oil and Gas industry, and preferably within the Upstream Gas business
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking experience
