Wage: £14,722.50 to £23,809.50, depending on your age
Training course: Mechatronics maintenance technician (level 3)
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 37 hours 30 minutes a week
Start date: Monday 1 September 2025
Duration: 3 years 6 months
Work: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by gaining hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work:
- 4-year apprenticeship with potential for permanent career development
- College release and work-based assignments with experienced technicians
- Exceptional training and development throughout the apprenticeship
Where you’ll work: Crabtree Manorway South, Belvedere, DA17 6BB
Training: Includes time away from work for specialist training to gain professional knowledge and skills.
Your training course:
- Use information technology for documentation, communication, and information management.
- Read and interpret task-related documentation such as work instructions, manuals, and drawings.
- Record information including job sheets, risk assessments, and maintenance records.
- Conduct initial assessments of equipment requiring maintenance.
- Formulate maintenance plans with timescales and resources.
- Select, prepare, and use materials, tools, and equipment.
- Follow health and safety regulations, including COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, PPE, and safe systems of work.
- Apply risk assessment and hazard mitigation principles.
- Apply isolation principles during maintenance activities.
- Manufacture, repair, and refurbish components using hand and machine tools.
- Restore the workplace after maintenance and hand over resources.
- Perform reactive and preventative maintenance on complex engineered systems.
- Produce and maintain documentation, including PLC and robot programmes.
- Apply functional testing, condition monitoring, and non-destructive testing techniques.
- Perform calculations related to feeds, speeds, tolerances, and electrical parameters.
- Select and calibrate testing and measuring equipment.
- Create sketches or drawings to support maintenance activities.
- Communicate in writing and verbally, including reports and negotiations.
- Manage waste streams and apply housekeeping principles.
- Identify operational improvements and apply continuous improvement techniques.
- Follow equity, diversity, and inclusion procedures.
- Record learning activities and apply fault-finding techniques on complex systems.
Your training plan: Includes college release and work-based assignments with experienced technicians.
Minimum requirements: GCSEs in Maths and English (grade 4 or above). Please inform the company of other relevant qualifications and experience, which may adjust the apprenticeship plan.
