Due to continued growth, contract expansion, and internal progression, Mears Group is looking for a Finance and Commercial Manager to join our dynamic team in Gloucester.

About the Role: This is a high-impact, business partnering role working directly with our senior leadership team. You’ll provide financial and commercial insights, drive performance, and support strategic decision-making. Initially office-based for onboarding, the role will transition to a hybrid working model. You'll be key in translating financial data into meaningful insights, building strong operational relationships, and ensuring commercial contracts are optimised and understood throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and timely financial and commercial information aligned with corporate standards.
- Lead monthly commercial reviews with branch leadership teams, identifying performance variances and improvement opportunities.
- Build and maintain commercial pricing models and support tender responses and repricing exercises.
- Communicate contract terms and pricing frameworks to operational teams, ensuring compliance and understanding.
- Implement robust controls to report and manage financial risk and opportunities.
- Drive cost management and accurate cost allocation through our internal systems (MCM).
- Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Champion improvements in working capital, ensuring timely job completion and billing.
- Provide ad hoc commercial analysis to support performance optimisation.
Role Criteria:
- Fully qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Proven commercial acumen with experience in pricing models, final accounts, and subcontractor management
- Excellent command of Excel and experience with high-volume, low-value data analysis
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience of business partnering and influencing senior leaders
- Effective time management and a proactive, hands-on approach
Desirable Experience:
- Previous exposure to social housing or housing maintenance
- Experience interpreting and working within commercial contracts
