The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.
You will have supervisory responsibility for the Landscape department and be able to work to your own initiative to organise the required resources to deliver our high standards of service. You will be primarily responsible for your diary; however, this will need to be flexible and communicated regularly with the office to allow for changes. You will forward plan as much as is possible and factor in the tools, machinery, vehicles and relevant staff needed.
You are required to be involved in proactively working on supporting and improving the Company moving forwards and liaise with other departments when necessary. You are required to attend regular progress meetings. You are a central and core part of the senior team of the Company and will be expected to be self-motivated and understand the independence and responsibility which is associated with the position. You will be expected to lead by example and impart your work ethic to your team.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all staff in your team. Your team can include but is not limited to permanent staff, apprentices, and job applicants performing a trial. Your team will be required to report directly to you in the first instance. You will perform site visits to oversee your team as necessary and ensure all work is being carried out to specification and standards.
You will be responsible for the health & safety within your team, liaising with the office and the HR Department. This can include assigned PPE, vehicles, tools and machinery that you and your team are using, and ensuring that all is in good and safe working order. Where any is found not to be, you must report to the office as a matter of urgency.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all staff training is up to date, ensure that any training needs or opportunities are identified and with the assistance of the office, source and deliver training courses as appropriate as well as providing one-on-one training where necessary. You will also work alongside any external training provider for an apprentice. You will also be responsible for ensuring your own training needs are met to enable you to work, manage and lead efficiently and effectively, liaising with the office as required. This may require you undertaking required training or induction courses as instructed by the Directors. All training will be recorded.
You are required to be in regular communication with the office. This involves answering the phone to the office where feasible or calling back at the earliest opportunity, and emailing regular reports to the main office mailbox.
Whilst the Company is contracted with Ground Control, we are required to accept work offered by them and complete it to our high standards of workmanship which we always strive to provide. Any extra or additional works offered will be discussed with you before any decision is made. The work assigned to the Company may be halved during the winter months due to the fluctuating nature of the business. So you are required to be proactively involved in marketing and sales in order to ensure the continuation of the business, whether this is requesting additional work from Ground Control or increasing the number of private clients.
You may also be required to do work that appears outside of grounds maintenance and gardening. This will be reviewed annually. You are responsible for maintaining records and submitting paperwork to the office when work is secured. The minimum value is subject to change depending on business needs and the size of your team.
